International cosmetics manufacturer Lancôme held it’s 6th annual Colour Design Awards in the Lindley Hall in November 2006. With celebrity glitterati such as Yasmin Le Bon, Tamara Mellon and Kelly Brook in attendance, the design and execution had to be spectacular.
The Lindley Hall was elegantly dressed for the dazzling fashion show and party in attire that echoed the 1920’s. Lancôme along with production company Gainsbury and Whiting wished to create an intimate yet avant-garde setting for their guests. Playing on the classic theme of the ‘grand banquet’, guests arrived at the hall and were welcomed to an opulent table, spilling over with roses, crystal, beautiful china and silverware. The flicker of candles and the resplendent candelabras raised above the table lit the room.
With help from staging specialists Affinity Crew, the table acted as both the surface for a sumptuous feast and the catwalk and showcased the new talent of 2006 from Central Saint Martins. In contrast to the diffused lighting of dinner, the room was vibrant with light and music. The state-of-the-art audio equipment was supplied by Britannia Row Productions whilst Blackout Ltd provided the drapes and rigging.
Models existed from the grey architrave panelling onto an embellished strip of polished parquet wood panelling, which ran along the centre of the table. There was a green room for all the VIP’s and a back room for the models to transform into dazzling beauties. As the finale came to a close and the last girl existed, a multitude of waiters were ready to serve the first of five exquisite courses.
